In December 1995 we celebrated the centenary of the arrival of six Ursulines in South Africa who began their
work in Barberton in what was then called the Eastern Transvaal (now known as Mmpumalanga).
These Sisters arrived from Sittard, Holland, at the request of the Prefect Apostolic of the Transvaal who wanted to establish a Catholic School for the children of immigrant families of gold miners in the Barberton mining camps.
Today we have four Communities in Southern Africa:
